Finding budget Christmas Cards for personal and business use

Personalised Christmas Cards

Personalised Christmas Cards are not just for businesses and many consumer greeting card sites such as Moonpig and Yoodoo are increasing their range each year.  If you are looking for personalised Christmas cards it can be worthwhile looking at the business focused sites because these suppliers generally offer personalised cards at a much cheaper price than the aforementioned sites.  The reason for this is that the likes of Moonpig focus towards sales of individual cards which is great if you are looking for a one off special Christmas card especially for a close member of your family or a best friend but they are not so hot (or cheap) at supplying a larger quantity of say 30 or more cards.

If you search for corporate christmas cards online you will find many companies pitching themself towards businesses who buy personalised cards to send to their customers and suppliers.  These firms are not fussy who they sell the cards to of course and many of the designs are more than suitable for personal use.  And, when you ignore all the options for adding logos and directors signatures etc, you will find that the cost is even more economical to the everyday personal consumer.  Most of these companies even provide free samples of their cards so you get to see the quality of the product before you order.  Don’t be tempted to get free samples to use as proper cards however because samples are seldom supplied with envelopes and they will be spoilt in some form or another either by having an example business Christmas greeting printed inside or the word “sample” stamped on the back.

Now, of course, the only downside of buying personalised cards from a Corporate Christmas card supplier is that you will be subject to a minimum order quantity of around 30 or 50 cards.  You will also be restricted to one design because the minimum quantity will not allow you to mix designs within this number.  This is because your order and design will all be printed and personalised in one printing run, and the more cards the printer can be print at the same time, of the same design and personalisation, the more economical it is for them (and the cheaper they can sell it to you).  The printers will entice you even further by heavily discounting higher quantities of cards so it can be very tempting to increase that 50 card order to 100 cards to bring the unit cost down significantly.  Before you fall into this trap be honest with yourself about the number of cards you really need and if necessary draw up your Christmas card list before you order.  If you only need 50 cards then there is not much point in ordering another 50 even if you are getting the extra quantity at a steal because they wont be much good next year.  You can hardly send your friends and family the same card (yes, they will remember) and they are personalised so they are no good to anyone else.

If you really want to impress with your personalised Christmas cards look out for designs that allow you to personalise the front of the card as well as the inside.  Many designs let you put your names on the front and use all sorts of clever photoshop trickery to make your cards stand out from the others on the mantle piece or office door.  You can have your names contoured around baubles, scrawled across the snow or even have a photo mug shot of yourself and your family built into the design.  You may pay a little more for these designs but they are well worth the extra pennies because they are truly unique and takes any doubt away from the receiver that they are professionally printed and are not just packs of cards that you have tried to run through the works photopcopier machine.
